It seems to be a pattern that I’m buying all of my wedding guest dresses from NY&CO! See my last wedding guest dress post here and here. Their dresses are on point lately and also at a great price point. We have a wedding late September but I happened to come across this harvest gold lace dress back in June! It’s never too early lol I wanted something modest but stylish. To be the best dressed wedding guest, follow my personal pointers that I’ve learned along the way:

1. Know your venue: you don’t want to show up in a dress that doesn’t at all relate to the type of wedding you’re attending. So ask yourself is it outdoors, if so what will the weather be, will I be attending church, how much walking/dancing will I have to do. These are key factors to deciding the style of dress you wear and also the type of shoes. For example, the last wedding we attended was outdoors at an estate in VA in May. I opted for a warmer style long sleeved maxi dress with flat sandals. The weather was rainy and somewhat chilly that day. My dress kept me warm and I didn’t have to worry about my heels sinking into the grass. Last December I was a bridesmaid in a December wedding. I helped my mom style her wedding guest look by finding her a pencil skirt, draped long sleeved top and closed toe heels. If heels are a must, then stowe a pair of foldable flats in your bag for dancing later on.

2. Know your body and personal style: in my opinion simple is always best! A solid colored dress with a piece of jewelry, pretty shoes and a small clutch is always my go to. If you feel more comfortable in a less formfitting dress, then don’t wear a bodycon. If pink is not your color, that day is not the best day to try wearing it again. You’ll likely be socializing with people you haven’t seen in a while and meeting people you don’t know, so you want to feel your most confident. It’s not the day to try something new that you might regret as the night goes on. So stick to your personal style and wear a dress that you feel absolutely amazing in.

3. Have fun: the best dressed wedding guests are the girls who shine in their outfits because they’re happy, laughing and dancing. If you follow the pointers above, this third tip will happen with no effort. It’s a night to celebrate a couple who felt you impacted their lives enough to invite you to a huge but intimate moment in their relationship. So it’s a must that you sip champagne, eat cake and celebrate their love.

Below are a few of my fav looks I’ve worn to weddings.

a wedding in Philadelphia during July 4th weekend 2017. My dress was $19 from Marshall’s

one of my fav wedding looks to this day. My friend Brenda’s wedding. See full outfit and makeup details here. I found this dress for $40 while shopping in a boutique in LBI. I came across it randomly and immediately knew I was going to wear it to her wedding.

what I wore to the VA outdoor wedding this past May. As mentioned above in tip 1

a bridesmaid in Tiff’s wedding this past December, I styled my moms wedding guest look (also mentioned above in tip 1)

a cold December wedding in NYC for Andrew’s college friend. Being warm was key! We went to Times Square later that night and I ended up at Express and walked out of there in a sweater and jeans!
