Ever since I was younger my mom has always inspired my personal style and outfit choices. From the time when I didn’t have a choice (circa 1992 big bows and polka dots) until even today, her opinion and personal style constantly serves as an inspiration when it comes to my own outfit choices. Seeing her style evolve over the years, throughout the decades while remaining consistently classic and tasteful is something I aspire to.

Most of the time, I shop online for clothes and shoes and when I do, I’m always buying two of everything. One for me and one for her. I always joke with her; I remember being little and seeing matching mom and daughter outfits in the avon catalog and asking her if we could get them. Reflecting her cool timeless style and knowing that matching outfits are a faux-paux, she casually told me that the magazine didn’t sell our sizes. I still make her feel guilty about that to this day! Times have changed though, and I feel now at this point, our styles are very similar.

We gravitate toward the same statement tops, style handbags and of course shoes. Someday’s we meet up with each other and laugh about wearing the same top or bag. So, when I came across these crushed velvet heels in coffee from Beast Fashion, I knew she’d absolutely die over them. In honor of one of my biggest style influences and Mother’s Day, I was so excited to shoot this post with my mom and in matching shoes!

To show that we have similar but still unique styles, I gave her the shoes and told her to style them for a post. I didn’t tell her how I was planning on styling the same exact pair for my outfit. Her style is classic but care-free. She can throw anything on and look amazing. I also think she’s more of a daring dresser than me, and always open to trying different looks, especially when it comes to trends. I feel sometimes my style, though trendy, can be more refined and simple.

The end results are exactly that. Of course we both styled the heels with jeans and a light-weight shirt. I opted for a print, to add contrast to the heels. She opted for a timeless white collared shirt to make the heels pop. And we showed up with the same handbags, again!

Mom, Happy Mother’s Day. Thank you for always taking my photos, and for once, enjoying some fun in front of the camera.

A huge thank you to Beast Fashion for making amazing shoes and feeling inspired enough to let my mom and I style them.

If you’re a mom, have a Happy Mother’s Day! If not, I hope you enjoy the weekend with your momma. Thanks for reading! xo
